The I/O electronics unit is built to conservative industrial standards to provide high performance and system safety. It includes a variety of extra features such as line-power and control board shut-down relays, auxiliary power supply opto-isolation (noise immunity) and circuit protection fuses to ensure reliable system operation.

The box contains the servo power supply, amplifiers, auxiliary power supplies, auxiliary DAC outputs and system cabling interconnections. The servo amplifiers are PWM type with 10 kHz modulation and built-in current sensors for linear current loop characteristics. The unit connects to the mechanism via bayonet connectors and to the DSP board via ribbon cable so that the once the board is installed in the PC, the system literally integrates in seconds!
