The ECP Executive interface program contains a wealth of features to efficiently specify your controller, perform maneuvers, and acquire, plot, and manage data. Whether you're demonstrating simple PID or advanced high order forms, you'll spend your time studying control implementation itself and not debugging system idiosyncrasies! The program is organized in an intuitive menu structure that lets you or your students efficiently implement control and characterize the open and closed loop system properties.

The top level menu structure is as follows:

   File:   Gives options for saving all working parameters so that work may be resumed seamlessly at some later time - ideal for multiple student work groups!

Setup:   Includes controller specification and implementation. Go to Setup

Command:   Includes input trajectories and disturbance shapes. Go to Command

Data:   Provides for specification of up to 9 variables for collection in real time. Supports easy export of data to applications such as Matlab® or Matrix X®.

Plotting:   Includes advanced real-time and off-line plotting features. Go to Plotting

Utility:   Provides useful functions including configuration of auxiliary DAC's for outputting analog data in real time (to view via oscilloscope, plotter, spectrum analyzer, etc.). Also provides for "jogging" the plant to any desired output position, resetting encoder values and controller states, and more.

A Wealth of Additional Program Features assure efficient and safe system operation. The Background screen continuously displays real-time data such as encoder positions, control effort, and commanded position. It also includes a system status display and a safety abort button. Background safety checks guard against mechanism over-travel, over-speed, and motor over-current. A watch dog timer in the DSP firmware assures fault-free processor operation.
