This versatile mechanism is readily transformed into the variety of configurations shown. It serves to vividly demonstrate both lumped parameter dynamics and generic vibrations issues. This system appears commonly in dynamics and vibrations text books and provides excellent demonstrations of classical theory.

The mechanism features adjustable masses, interchangeable springs and adjustable air damping. The system is furnished with a comprehensive set of dynamics and vibrations experiments that provide an excellent introduction to one degree of freedom systems and continue through higher order flexible structure dynamics.
